Although backpackers would like to take as few items as possible, still there is a relatively long list of items that they will require. In order to make sure that you won’t leave any of them at home, it is best to come up with a checklist that you check each time before hitting the road.
It is just natural that there are some basic items you should have with you on each camping trip. There consist of a backpack, stakes and a tent, a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, day pack, sunscreen, headlamp, flashlight, and a lot of batteries. These are the items that you shouldn’t leave home without.
ClothingIt is not a characteristic of shallow thinking that you will consider it. You should be thinking about boots, camp shoes, hiking socks, liner socks, shorts, t-shirts, pants, warm shirts, underwear, rain gear, thermals, hiking hat with brim, gloves, clothes for driving home, and a beanie.
Besides the basic items there are some essential items that you should never start a trip without. These are the items that will ensure that you will be able to get better. Such items include one quarter of water, lighter, matches, first aid kit, maps, compass, rope or paracord, whistle, sunglasses, and a pocket knife.
If you are not traveling on your own, there are some items you will need to have fun as a group. It's not a must for you to carry all these items, but at least one person in the group should have them. Think about camping stove, windscreen, funnel and fuel, lantern, water filter, repellent insect, trash bags, toilet paper, repair kit, water storage, canister bear, scrub pad, biodegradable soap, towel, pot and pan, utensils, pot grip , cutting board, food, drink mixes, spices, GPS, snacks, and 2-way radios.
Preparing for the Winter
While it's not that popular, there are some people who prefer backpacking during the winter. If this is the case you will need avalanche beacon, gaiters, sealant boot, snow shovel, snow stakes, snow tops, hiking boots, ice ax, and crampons.
There are some things you need to do, but you might like them, such as cards and cameras, insulated cups, lip balm, medication, lotion, camp chair, hiking poles, bandanna, and stash bags.
