There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. So far, I'm in for like $750 on new gear (trying to stay under $1k), but I'm at about 6 lbs total on tent and sleep system. Going to do a test run next week and see if I need to get comfier pad/pillow (I'm getting to be an ol' softy). Really excited about the tent and quilt!
Not in a rush, but the next step: stove/cookwear... The jetboil seems a little overkill, but efficient. I like the look of the MSR Pocket Rocket with the Quick 2 System but it may be on the heavy side. Need to decide what I'm really going to be cooking first...
