Being german i've to say, sounds to good to be true and i would like to share some thoughts and questions.
Every well lead growing company will come to the point to ask how could we expand our customerbase and marketposition. Let's have a look at different laws/rights of customers given, how is the competition, do i've enough interesting products for foreign market/need.
Imagine MDs setup, no products to be bought today, delivered tomorrow, people are unhappy all the time about long waiting time. Being MD Europe, people will shortly demand a lot more Europe/ISO products, because selling/being here, we've the right to demand our "special" local needs to be covered. What are they supposed to offer, another Ducky/Corsair ISO mk, which is given "everywhere", of course Amazon is one Euro cheaper and will deliver tomorrow.
MD doesn't produce in general, most of the time using contacts to find new interesting, sometimes exclusive products, but they can only sell what is given, but they have to cover daylie business, there aren't that many non standard products given to cover that and may i ask how many exclusive groupbuys can we participate, there is a limit in everyones pocket.
For me MD is only interesting for products hard or not to get somwhere else most of the time, being a relialable partner. Massproducts can be gotten at many places and there is always someone being a little bit cheaper.
Shipping costs have become most of the time pretty good, even more in comparison with other sellers in the US. But Tabao and Amazon ship for free, well, having to pay only "slave wages" or being a company offering allmost every product in existence with the power to "dictate" margins/prices and a much better mixed calculation due to the sheer amount what they offer, MD can't compete. Doesn't companies exporting goods to sell here doesn't have to pay tax, maybe they've other opportunities to "cheat" their way out, but i can't imagine Schäuble (German Minister for Finances) saying: Oh well, it's MD, let them pass for free, i don't want/need that money.
Being a customer it's wholeheartly understandable to get the most for/out of my money, but there is always someone else paying my saving. Have you ever seen a "Fairtrade mk" (this just came to my mind :)).
It's a tricky situation that many people think their work ... is underpaid, but demand others to work cheap!
Should be enough for now, but please keep it coming and feel free to disagree, this could be a very nice and interesting discussion!
Cheers

MakamiYou do have some very valid points, MD is the best site to get especially American products we wouldn't even know of. The only thing that still bugs me is that we'll pay tax because a swedish product is first sent to the US even though it was mentioned that vendors could ship directly. Of course I do not demand free one-day shipping but it shouldn't take two weeks just to figure out who will assist you if your product breaks during shipping.
And (just kidding here) Germany apparently doesn't need tax from VW, Ikea etc. why should they charge MD?

AlerionGood morning,
i hear and understand you, i've this feeling all the time seeing GMK keycapdrops. The thought that these caps could be sent a couple of hundred miles to me in a day, instead being shipped twice "around" the world is very irritating, to put it gentle. Maybe this has something to do with organization, trust, warranty claims ... inbetween companies/business partners.
Politics and religion are two things i don't like to discuss on the internet, but the tax politics etc. of our countries can drive one mad. All of them have a two sided morality, sitting in a house of glass on their own, they shouldn't throw stones at others.
I do find these updates about the Model 01 by keyboardio very interesting to get some knowledge about behind the scenes, and this is only one outstanding product: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/keyboardio/the-model-01-an-heirloom-grade-keyboard-for-seriou or the process of the UHK: https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/blog
Imagine you would be in need to have something new, exciting on a weekly basis to make your customers happy and interested.

MakamiIf it were so easy to accomplish I'm sure this would already be a thing. But I'm really curious which factors are in the way or from which point it'd make sense to "expand" (don't know how else to put it).
I feel you, that's why I never tried to make a serious comment in that direction.
If the MD exclusives would be manufractured on two different continents it'd probably cost way more than the shipping/tax we pay now.. Still, very interresting articles.
That's the exact reason why companies who can afford it don't spoil their products far from release. It's sad how many croudfundings failed simply because they were forgotten.
