The person might've made slight changes to the design (like, on the clip), yet it is pretty much a copy of that one: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZXqcqlnJN4/ (note the date) Unless you all are going...We’ve investigated and determined that it doesn’t violate our rules or community guidelines. Best, Kickstarter Trust & Safety The option chosen for the report was: Copying, reselling or plagiarism Projects cannot plagiarize, offer items that aren't produced by the creator, or repackage a previously-created product without adding anything new. The list includes 3 things, which are separate: 1, cannot plagiarize, 2, offer items that aren't produced by the creator, or 3, repackage a previously-created product without adding anything new. So, even if a project creator adds something new to the plagiarized design, it's still plagiarized and should not be allowed by ks' rules. However, another person's take on it was that ks wouldn't ever be specific enough, and ever clearly define plagiarism, because then they'd be held accountable. If they leave room for interpretation, it also prevents them from being sued. Wonder if anything happened in that case as well:https://www.professionaljeweller.com/black-badger-founder-starts-social-media-campaign-to-tackle-copy-cat-kickstarter/ Recently, there was a brass key ring offered up as a project. $5 per solid brass ring, as an item that's been redeveloped. The one detail which might be different is the actual composition of the brass, yet it doesn't indicate any project creation details which would make a person think it's anything different than these, which can be had for $.50 a ring: https://www.keyring.com/solidbrasssplitkeyring1diameterusa-bulk.aspx If there is no difference, and they just repackage an already existing product which can be had in bulk, then that would (and should) be against ks rules. Yet, nope. The reply: Hi there, Thank you for bringing this project to our attention: Project: Oceanus Brass Snap-Shackle's Ring Report date: March 26, 2019 Report content:
You can easily use Elgoog to search for solid brass 25mm (or, 1in) split key rings and find them available at that one auction site, the big river place, and at this confusingly-named website: https:...We’ve investigated and determined that it doesn’t violate our rules or community guidelines.
