Mek-Dek 68 by E.E.L. Ambiense

more_vert
Hello! I'm a graphic designer, photographer and case modder by profession, but I also dabble in clacking. A few months back, I designed and built a custom shell out of acrylic and wood for a Magicforce 68 bare PCB kit with Gateron Reds and white LEDs installed.  Originative Co. Carbon Black caps on it as they are the only dk. grey caps I had at the moment so that's what populated the deck.  Thought you fellow clack-fanatics would like to see it. Full project log on The Mod Zoo for those interested!  Enjoy!

I love this. The American Gothic folks surely had a son that grew up to write macabre fiction novellas on this thing..

Damn, that looks beautiful! I'm not usually a fan of thicker bezels, but these look great!
Did you use the top shell of the original case for the plate, or are the switches just mounted to the PCB?

theimmcThanks! No; it's all custom from scratch. Only PCB and stabs used from Magicforce kit.

This is a work of art. Not my style, but still a masterpiece deserving of applause and respect.
My personal taste prefers sleek, minimalistic designs, but something about this case is striking--It feels like a relic salvaged from the ruins of Boston; old, possibly irradiated, yet endearing.
If you can procure a set of GMK Terminal...
You'd be the proud owner of an oversized, clacking Pipboy.

ZenixThank you for the kind words! I appreciate it. TBH, I rarely use it at this point as I really need F-row since design program and workflow therein really requires a more 'streamlined' method, and I can't be hitting secondary layers just to zoom and move around all the time, haha. I'm actually more of a TKL kind of dude!

the board itself was fin I just put terrible switches on it, I love switches with 80+ grams of force and on that board I got switches with 35 grams, so it was terrible.

TheSkeletonah, haha, I hear ya. Im that way with clicky switches -- I like Gat Greens. I'm a linear user though and need them butter-smooth!

That's really cool! I like that it looks very modern but manages to retain that wood tone.

Looks bad as hell. I really dig the close up shots on the unfinished edges. Beautiful work!
