WatchNut2Lol, just traded 5 watches for this piece. It’s my ultimate sports watch after trying on the other two (AP and Patek). It’s my everyday watch now, very wearable and understated, no need to worry about getting robbed while in less than ideal neighborhoods 🤣🤣🤣

My story started late 2018. I had been wearing a timex Waterbury (upper left corner) for the better part of 2018 and during a wedding I attended I felt silly looking at myself in the mirror, donning a suit and vest with the timex on my wrist. I figured it was time to grow up and get myself a proper watch. Initially I didn’t want to spend too much money and after reading a few articles and reviews, early 2019 I decided on an Orient Star Open Heart RE-AV0002S. I have no regrets m, I loved wearing it and I now have a watch suitable for the more formal events. I told myself that I would buy no more than 4 watches in 2019, ultimately once I caught the bug I just couldn’t help myself. I ended the year with two of my currently most cherished possession the Speedy Pro and the GS Snowflake SBGA 211. From top left to bottom right, and in the order of my acquisition of these watches:
  • Timex The Waterbury
  • Orient Star RE-AV0002S
  • Graf Zeppelin LZ129
  • Alexander Shorokoff New 63
  • Seiko The Alpinist SARB017
  • Seiko Presage Shippo Enamel Dial SPB073J1
  • Seiko 5 SRPD81K1
  • Casio G Shock
  • Baume et Mercier Clifton Club 10378
  • Longines Master Moonphase L2.909.4
  • Omega Speedmaster Professional
  • Grand Seiko SBGA211 (Snowflake)
2019 has been a wild first year into the world of Horology. I’m excited for 2020!

The Save The Ocean turtle is easily one of my faves if for nothing more than its aesthetics. While I do like the first iteration of the Save The Ocean pieces (both the turtle and the samurai) with their blue to black gradient dials the wave pattern on this Great White Shark edition catches natural sunlight in a way its older cousins simply can't. And the silhouette of a shark's dorsal fin adjacent the 8 o'clock marker makes for a great conversation starter when people notice it. As to the durability of the bezel? I couldn't say, honestly. I am pretty conscious of how my watches get treated during various activities as to not damage them. I'm a rollback tow truck operator for a rather large tow & recovery company (an industry notoriously hard on watches) which is why I have pieces specifically designated to be beaters that it won't hurt my feelings overmuch if they get beat up so long as they continue to keep time properly. The Invicta Pro Diver was my beater because I caught it very cheap (<$50) but its 40mm case is a touch too small for my preferences which is why I ordered an SKX007j for a keeper and the SKX007k is to become my beater once its Japanese sibling arrives. That said, for the activities you have listed (hunting, fishing, boating) I don't see any of those being an issue for it.

TheWreckerGuyThanks for the thoughtful responses to my query and for your enthusiasm for the SRPD21 Turtle. I have added it to my wishlist! As for the SBDB011, the ever-rising price of the Rolex GMT Master II is forcing me to consider replacing the Rolex with the SBDB011 as my "watch for the rest of my life". Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

6 Or 7 Of my Daily Use Watches..I had to take off the 007 as I was Wearing it.One of my Favorites is the(Lower Right) Seikosha Kamikaze Replica.I Can’t Even Imagine Owning an Original Kamikaze.THAT Is My “Grail Watch”.But going back to a previous “Only One” Or “Final” Watch. My Answer was the 007 on the”Bond” NATO!!

Awesome piece, regardless of which colorway it is. Is your NATO a Barton, by chance? If so I have that exact strap on my own SKX. 👍

HaskidooIt is a nice start, price doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if you enjoy the pieces you own.
