DHL Shipping

more_vert
I seem to have real delays with DHL shipping. Once they hand off to the post office in my state delivery still takes two or three more days. I really wish Massdrop would switch to another shipper. DHL/USPS seems really slow.
Is anyone one else having these problems?

DHL handing off to Canada Post has been an unhappy thing; seems to lengthen delivery time, and increase likelihood of extra charges (e.g. - inducement of GST + a fee larger than GST charged for charging GST...)

I agree, ANY shipping service that tenders of to USPS is very slow. The post office is overworked, understaffed, and just doesn't give a damn about providing service. Please switch to UPS or FedEx for shipping.

The same happened to me too. They delivered my parcel to my state (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and it still takes like 3 days to reach my house. I'm personally ok with that but it might be a problem for people in rush waiting for the parcel.

Hope its not too late to reply as I'm inactive on Massdrop recently. I am not a frequent buyer of Massdrop either, only bought a keycap set once. It took roughly 2 weeks to reach my house. I do not have to deal with the custom for this buy. No hassles and no worries, straight to your doorstep. You can just track the parcel once it is sent out.

wacats_whThanks for the reply. I've stopped checking on Massdrop for quite awhile now as well. Anyways thanks for the info.

Remember the old days of ordering from a catalog? Mail a check. And then wait four to six weeks for delivery. Now more than two days, and people are outraged. Good thing we're not waiting for things to clear customs... Many of the shippers use contractors. Service will vary.

I live on the east coast and DHL is extremely slow, especially for something being shipped from NJ. It doesn't seem to be the hand off to USPS, as USPS is usually the quickest part of the journey. It seems like DHL just sits on the package for several days before moving it on. In the US, DHL is at best the most minor of the medium (LaserShip and other last mile companies) and large (UPS, FedEx, USPS) package handlers. With MassDrop I have just come to expect them to NOT hit their original estimated date for the product to ship from the warehouse and then add a couple extra days on top of the final estimated delivery date to account for their chosen shipper DHL.

Another CA person, but DHL seems fine for me personally. I don't mind slow, but unpredictable causes problems.
In general, I think all the logistics firms suck for someone. For me, Fedex is the most annoying - they consistently lie about having attempted delivery and (purely local issue) their pickup place is annoying for me to get to. Ontrac (frequently used by Amazon) is runner up for shoddy service; they don't pretend to try to deliver quite as much as Fedex (although they do), but deliveries are almost always late.
Point being, any choice is going to annoy someone. And given that I'm assuming DHL was competing for MD's love at least partially on price, changing would likely increase shipping cost. And we know everyone here is already *very* happy with shipping costs...

Anything that hands off to USPS is a massive drop in quality/service here in Ohio.

I've not had trouble with DHL, but then they haven't seemed to be used much for me. The USPS on the other hand has been such a constant frustration that I now refuse to do business with MassDrop until they can let me ship with somebody else. The same goes for Amazon. They too often use the USPS and I end up getting slow delivery, no tracking and a few days of phone calls with people that assure me they know nothing.
