There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The kits are clearly geared towards beginners. Not that I think a beginning knitter should buy them--they're problematic for a host of reasons. Especially the ones that include needles. First, I don't know many people that enjoy using straight needles. Second, what are the odds of a beginner getting gauge on the provided needles? Most beginners (and a lot of experienced knitters too) I know think swatching is some form of torture. So, I predict lots of FOs that don't fit.
I would just like to see some drops that include high-quality yarns. Let me decide what to knit. Let me decide what tools to use.
What do you think?
