What is Art of the Trek?
Art of the Trek is a community-based outdoor trip-planning app that enables hikers to research and plan successful adventures in one place. For a quick overview, check out video:
Who are you?
Nicole is the Business Development Manager at Art of the Trek. She’s originally from Chicago, but now lives in Vienna, Austria. She manages relationships with users and looks for ways to partner and collaborate with members of the outdoor community. We have a small (but mighty!) team of software developers, researchers, and hikers around the world. Nicole coordinates with these teams across Calendly, Slack, and Trello. We represent the new way of working - we’re global, distributed, connected, and remote.
What does it look like? What kind of features do you provide?You’ll see the following map layers: Satellite and Trail View. We’ve included the following points of interest: Campsites, Scenic Locations, Huts/Shelter, Camera Feeds, Fires, and Trailheads. Users will also be able to take notes and photos of real-time water source information and trail conditions to share on the platform. For all of these points of interest, we provide all of the information you need and want to know - more than just a name and location, we provide rich information about each point of interest so you can know before you go. How does it work? It’s easy. Head on over to www.ArtoftheTrek.com to get started. Be sure to play with map layers, create and save a hiking route and include points of interest, and add tripmates and emergency contacts. Don’t miss our two newest features: Permit Concierge Service and 3D Route Flyover.
With the Permit Concierge Service, leave all of the phone calls and tedious paperwork to us. We’re happy to secure all permits and reservations for you. To request this service, have at least one emergency contact added to your trip and select “Permit Concierge” from the dropdown menu next to your saved trip. For right now as we get going, there’s no extra cost to you beyond the cost you’d be paying for permits/reservations anyway.
The 3D Route Flyover feature is available after you’ve created a route on the topo map to help you visualize your route before you head out. As you can see in the following video, it’s a unique, individual flyover for any route you personally create:
What makes you different than other outdoor apps?
We aim to be the first “one-stop shop” for the outdoor community, or a place where you can research trips, plan trips, navigate while in the field, and create and share trip reports.
Why don’t I see points of interest in my area?Coming soon! Our research team works around the clock to research and enter points of interest all over the world. We’d love to know which areas you’d like us to prioritize for you personally.
