Wrist Check

Ain't no Blues like the Ice Blues! Spent the better part of hour trying to fit a new strap to my lowly little Seiko SRP481K1, and came away with more than a few observations... First is that the Ocean Blue, Clockwork Synergy two-piece strap you see on the left, is probably the closest "matching" blue I've been able to locate for the Ice Monster's blue accents. That said, whoever decided to drill the lug holes where they did, and they other guy who actually called them "holes" in the first place, should both be drawn and quartered! A) the holes in the worst place possible, and B) they're not holes, they're divots, nay--impressions where divots might be, but definitely, not holes! Second, the idea about spring bars with a little tab or "handle" that lets you quickly attach or detach a given strap, is far more art than science. And when you combine the two (shallow divots and spring bar art) you end up with an hour or so of frustration --"the likes of which, the world has never known!" And for all my trouble, I have to say: screw it--it just wasn't worth the effort! The strap itself was comfortable, but way too tough to buckle, and only just long enough to make it all the way 'round my wrist. To add insult to injury, once I'd gone to the trouble of removing the pretty damn decent stainless steel bracelet the Ice Monster shipped with, I thought I may as well try a few of the "alt straps" I had laying around (one NATO, one Zulu). But what did I discover? The damn pins fit so closely to the case that there is virtually no way on earth to insert the strap (either one), between that bar and the case! Not even trying to pull it through with pliers! Even that wimpy Seiko-supplied NATO on the right couldn't find its way past that case and those pins! So, color me disappointed! And know what I finally did? Tossed all that stuff back in a drawer and put the damn OEM metal bracelet back on the SRP481K1, and called it a night--that's what I did!

Wow the drilled lugs aren’t drilled? You gotta be kidding what a bummer those springbar tweezers are really handy but exspensive that would solve most of the spring bar problems because they compress both sides of the bar at the same time

I hate (immensely dislike) changing straps also. I propose the watch makers start putting good quality straps (bracelets) that look good so we can keep our sanity. 🤯😫

That’s friggin frustrating! I think next time you should use some aftermarket pins, Seiko pins are thicker than all the others I’ve seen. Also I once got p’d off and just broke the pin off out of frustration!

Mr_LingI was almost there! Good advice about the pins, I'll give it a try.
