Wrist Check

Pondering the meaning of life with a Seiko Samurai SRPB51 on my wrist. Mine looks pretty much the same as everyone else's--no surprise there. So what do I think? I like it! Regardless of what you imagine it might feel like on, it feels like much less--once the very nice bracelet is adjusted to size (careful--pins and collars in those links) and fine tuned with the micro adjustments (4) to just the right balance of comfort and shake. The watch feels fairly heavy in the hand, but it's nearly weightless on the wrist--meaning once you've got everything dialed in, you'll for get its there. Along with the bracelet (I could do without the diver extension), I love the applied indices, hands and dial texture--and of course, the shape of the case. Lum is great, bezel clicks like it should, and the extra-long second hand with cool red tip sweeps, just like in the movies. So, what's not to like? Let me just come right out and say it--what the hell is with the bezel markers from 12 to 3 o'clock? Whatever it is, it doesn't make it easier to track the minutes (the lighter marks). Fortunately, the contrast color (a warm grey on this version) is semi subtle (not like on that crazy ORANGE version) but I say it distracts from the overall presentation. Then there's the knurling on the crown--I'm not a fan (saw too many botched Metal Shop projects in my youth). Would have preferred something more traditional and polished. That said, it winds, works and screws down perfectly. Anything else? Yes, I wouldn't have minded a Day function--there's certainly plenty of room for one. Overall, it's a great diver and I got a very good deal on it. If I stumble on a bezel mod in the future I might go for it--otherwise, everything else is staying as-is! Minor UPDATE: saw this watch with an Uncle Seiko Beads of Rice bracelet and it looked very nice! I can resist anything but temptation...

ErikespI know, I've seen a few of them on your posts. I think it's time to get 'em all together for a family portrait!

Looks great! Is the 12 o’clock marker aligned or misaligned? It’s hard to tell on the picture.

I like it, wonderful time piece. The first 15 minutes on bezel are different to make it easy to identify in hard to read conditions. Beautiful watch
