Aside from getting onto some perfect, pure snow, getting to some spaces that would just be a FLOUNDER without them... sometimes I get to see stuff that I wouldn't otherwise see;

....a mink diving for crayfish in a partly frozen stream. when you can sneak up and see something like this because snowshoes make you a stealth ATV.

That's awesome! What a great photo -- thanks for sharing! I need stealth snowshoes, my MSR ones are really loud.

Thank you! I know people here use those long ones for lake travel, good to know they work for woodland trails as well. I'm hoping to do one trip up in Northern Minnesota before the snow melts, but my MSR shoes are designed for "Cascade Concrete" not fluffy MN powder. I will look into getting a pair!
Cardamomteaoh yah, lake racing on my Yukes! 😄

this morning, headed out my fields in the pouring snow.... fox, having come across those same fields toward my barns, stopped...we stared at each other, and then it made its getaway while I scrambled to get my phone camera on. It was really coming down, hence the blurry image. Another case of getting out on the snowshoes shows me stuff I wouldn't see otherwise!

I hike in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the winter- just a fantastic experience.
