My budget audiophilia is more budget than audiophile.
That's a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B with an Allo Piano DAC and the Fostex T-X0 headphones from the drop here. Oddly enough, the DAC's built in headphone amp drives the headphones better than the Sony STR-DH740. I also have a pair of Samson SR950 headphones I use occasionally. For listening on the PC, I have a Sound Blaster Z with built in headphone amp.

liteon163I have a Onkyo powering my 7.1 tower speaker setup they sound really good but the headphone jack is meh. My dac/amp sounds alot better than the headphone jack, The headphone jack it has the power to run anything but lacks clarity. I wondered why i always missed footstep sounds in games when other people could hear them it was the lack of a good Dac. And i bought those 7.1 and 5.1 sound cards and they arent close either to a good Dac/amp combo. I tried using my onboard motherboard audio with my amp and it wasnt bad but I lose alot of volume and i dont know why.

hermanatorThe Allo Piano DAC is INCREDIBLE, especially considering it costs less than $30. Compared to the Sound Blaster Z, the DAC is clearer and flatter, but maybe a bit more harsh (not as rich). But that's actually comparing their respective headphone amplifiers. Detail wise, the DAC sounds a bit better to my ears. And I've replaced my planars with the NAD VISO HP50. After breaking them in, I greatly prefer their sound signature to the planars. Heck, I prefer them enough I'd sell the Fostex TX-0s.
