OZ.Bloody.RabbitJust missing the T1. I just bought one and it's an incredible sound.
How do you like that Gustard amp?

OZ.Bloody.RabbitAlways thought the W1000X was absolutely gorgeous. Audio Technica has always done a good job of making stuff look good though... even when it was funky. Like the EW9.
How do you like the AD1000X though? Always have been curious about the AD line, but never owned a pair.
KJ741NIt's very flexible amp, plenty of headroom for most headphones. Out of the box I find it bit "blend", but responds well to chips swapped. One combination I liked was OPA2604 + OPA627, now I am currently running twin LME49990 at the small signal stage and OPA827 at amplification stage. I heard good things about the T1, and the new 1770 (closed) or 1990 (open) also caught my attentions.
ProfessorPatThe ATH always had reputation for mid range, and AD1000X are impressive on the voice and violin range, more detail, but not piecing/ harsh. Lower bass can be a bit light on comparison though.

OZ.Bloody.RabbitI listen to a lot of music featuring violin. The T1 I have is nice, but once in a while I wince just a little bit on some of those high notes. Never did that with the AKG or Sennheiser. Which of your phones do you like best for listening to violin?
KJ741NI actually use the K712 exclusively if I want to know exactly what's happening in the music, texture, imaging, their accuracy is like living a wet dream. A good amp helps too, I guess. DT880 are very transparent and gives a concert hall feel, and the HD700 are very smooth with deep bass, more like a recording room (with EQ tuning). But instead, the K712 get you the first person presentation. Two songs I always listen are Air on G-string arranged from BWV 1068; and Winter from Four Season.
AdrianLYa, a reasonable size foot print and quiet stable (round shape) base. Doesn't strain the spring/ elastic is a bonus (on AKG, ATH).

OZ.Bloody.RabbitCould you give a quick comparison of the 1000X to the 6XX?
SephHaleyHi, sorry for the late reply, got carried away by work recently. Long story short, our team are three men down and there is an enormous shift in workload + stress. All went to better places on short notice, one is spiritually (and physically) and the other two decided on their own record (mentally). I am assuming you mean the ATH-AD1000x vs HD-6xx, while both are dual entry and open mesh back (instead of the ATH-W1000x which is single side and closed back) and will compare accordingly. The two are tuned differently to different gene and everything are relatively to each other. I will start with the overall sound signature, AD1000X have more mid + treble and HD6XX has better bass + deep bass drive/ authority. Comfort-wise, the AD1000X are light on the head and larger circle cups don't put stress on the outer ears. The HD6XX have more clamps all-round and the oval cups are flush to the ears. Practically speaking, the AD1000X are more suit for sitting very still (couch) while the HD6XX are better choice when you have to move around (at the desk, making coffee, feeding the cat). As with the presentation is really set them apart. AD1000X has a much more open and detail sound, tad more emphasize on voice, better clarity (separation between instruments), very transparent (X/Y + A/B). HD6XX have the Senn veil, while more apparent on lesser power amplification, but I doubt the X7S, H10, Asgard2 and Magni3 is anything on the small scale. The bass are clean and deep, the mids + treble relatively not as clear and more constrict, some call it *smooth or fluid*. The sound comes within the cups, bouncing at the barrier. AD1000X the sound tracks are less constraint. EDITED: overall, the AD1000X is more acoustics and HD6XX is more musical.
