Leviathan2210The Eitr contains all the improvement's from Shiit's Gen 5 USB tech and outputs via SPDIF to your DAC of choice, isolating the DAC from any potential noise from the PC's USB port. See here for more details, it explains much better:

RiflemanFirstYeah, I already read that page(might have read all of Schiit's pages laughing at their FAQ's and schtuuff, but don't tell anyone, that's a secret.) just wondered if there was any other benefit than the better isolation. There's all this discussion on cables and stuff, so I was wondering about what would be the best between usb, SPDIF, etc...

Leviathan2210Mostly just the isolation, since SPDIF is a signal only cable. Some people claim to hear all sorts of sound quality differences between various cables. I personally found the sound to be a bit cleaner with the Eitr compared to connecting the DAC directly to my PC via USB. Maybe a lower noise floor? I only know what I hear and haven't measured anything with test equipment or a quick A/B test.
