Hey saludos, I've got a hifiman 400i, Senn 600 and 650, b&w p7 wireless, Bose qc15 (not pictured), fiio f5 iem, kz something. Dac aq df red, onkyo dx1, marantz sr6011. I'd also like some advice, I think I want to know where to go from here. I'm thinking I want sone bassy cans, and the fostex mahogany look nice or some ultra wide soundstage ones. I think the bassy ones though. Also, I'm thinking of a desk daw amp like the audio gd r2r 11 or something similar. Can stuff is expensive. I'm curious about tubes also. Any way thanks and rock on

Sel2g5You'll want the fostex cans next. I suggest the ebony wood ones (the ones I personally own.)

Sel2g5 Nice setup bro. I am suggest Fostex Ebony instead Mahogany little bit expensive, but better clarity in bass and mids, the treble is the same as mahogany. Dont like at all Perplehurt, too muddy. Another bass alternatives is Argon Mk3 from modhouse or Fostex T60 (have both). Argon has a nice reach and juicy bass ( the best bass in my collection). T60 little bit less but very good controlled and detailed. Not recommending Sony, as owning Sony MDR Z7, Sony MDR950BT, Sony WH 100XM3 Have 18 cans in my collection (LCD-X, LCD2C, HD800S, HD660S, Monoprice 1060C, 560, FidelioX2, AKG 701Q, Beyerodinamic 1990 and Amrion wireless etc, etc ). Recently have got Sennh 58X, 6XX, AKG7XX and Topping DX7X from Masssdrop (still in transit). The biggest / ultra wide soundstage is HD800S and AKG 701Q, but they are not bassy. Not a big fun of valve amps, but from the solid states desk amps the Oppo HA1 is the most satisfying for my ears. Also recommnd the Emotiva BasX100 as the headphone amp (look Zeos revew). Have Denon MP50, Pioneer U-5, Linnenberg Maestro, Nuforce 80, Oppo HA1, Emotiva BasX100, Asus Rampage IV headphone Dac Amp plus Topping DX7 soon. Look Aune amp on Massdrop (balanced), did not try, but sounds promising.

kimdeug Wow! good info thanks. You have quite the collection!! That Oppo amp looks nice. I dont know about availability (or price!!?) since oppo went under. Regarding the ebony, thats interesting I'll read up. Also, everyone is chatting up the mr speakers aeon flow open. Have you heard them? I think 800 or so is probably my limit...I have speakers and amps etc also to buy and try.

AtomicmindedThnaks!! By the way, do you have any problems with the wood cracking? I live in a dry climate.

Sel2g5Yes, I had chance to listen Aeon Flow, but they did not impress me to buy them, which is recently happens with HD660S. Even I had HD800S, I have bought HD660S after 1 minute of listening. Not often happends to me, as I do the intensive research 2-3 months before the buying and do incountless hours of demo listening in the different shops (I was waiting 10 months to get the right price for HD800S, or around 1 year to get LCD2C for the 599$ price) Lets say, one Aeon flow will cost more than 58X, 6XX, 7XX together, So, I prefer the different range for the less money.

kimdeugWow, the 660 is that good? Could you compare the 660 to the 600 and 650?

Sel2g5600 is classic mid range but very close and little bit artificial for me. Not enough space, I like the ergonomic design of 6 series, but 600 was not my type, but very good for female vocals. 650 is like: all frequency range was shifted slightly to the bass side. Treble slightly reduced and bass extended. For some people, who likes valves and more relax listening it is good alternatives. Not for me. I like dynamics and punch. So, 660 is my type. It is mix 600 and 650. More bass than 600, mids as 600 and good treble , but not pirsing as 600. Punchy and energetic. But now 58X is the same soundstage (98%) as 660S but for 149$ on massdrop, little more punchy to 660S, but less resolution. Look Z revew, this is my 100% words too. I have removed foam from the grill side, now it is like 660S for 1/3 price.

Sel2g5Not sure if you have made your choice yet but just incase here is my two cents. If you are looking to spend under 500 I would suggest the 1More Triple driver over ear. I run them on my sAp 9 with no EQ and they bang. They are not as bassie as some of the other cans out there but they do get hit and don't lack in the mids and highs either. The best all around headphones in the price range IMO. As for the 1k and under, LCD 2 Classic Closed. Can't say I have heard any full range that beat it, the lows will kick you in the ear while not taking away from the mids and highs. They are heavy but comfortable and after a while you won't even notice it. Good luck and I hope that helps.

ethanchanFor bass I bought some Beyer dt770 80 ohm LE, whcih they have a lot as well as sparkly, abeit unrefined treble. (great bang for the buck, 135€). I also got the Acoustic Research massdrop (my first drop) but I have not received them yet. I have always been curious about the 1More Triple driver over ear, and I finally got to try it (in a shop in singapore) and for me, its was verrrrry bright. I think the bass on the beyers is much deeper.

Sel2g5until my 1more over ear were fully burnt in I too found them to be sharp in the high and high mids. Once they broke in that all leveled out. I also love the punch and stiffness of the bass. I still have 3 and don’t regret it. I will say that they don’t get much use unless I am out and about because at home I am either on the 6xx with my tube or lcd2 closed on my aune. It has gotten so good to my ears that I have actually not spent another dime on audio equipment. Da da da da daaaaa I’m lovin’ it .. lol
