PraxisCatThe Type II looks like it's taken the majority of the issues with the original S-Series and done something about them (though until it's out in the wild, we can't really tell how effective those changes are). 1. Expandable side pocket - Original pocket was too hard to fit anything thicker than a phone/passport because the pocket material didn't expand. With a zipper I'm wary things like a water bottle would fall out though. 2. Side attachment - Looks like they've added straps to one side of the bag (replacing a d-ring) so that you can attach a tripod more easily. 3. Bottom straps included - The previous had tabs for straps to be included but they never included them with the bag. This was a personal peeve of mine since this was one of their stretch goals that was met, but instead of giving it to their kickstarter backers, they simply added the straps to their store to purchase as a separate item. 4. Inner Camera Unit - Similar to some other manufacturers (e.g. F-Stop), Vinta now has an internal camera bag that you can swap in and out of the Type II bag. I find this can be useful if you are the kind of person that stores your camera gear in that inner camera unit and you can just slip it in/out as needed. I think this was their way of getting around adding veclro all over the inside of the bag (which most other camera bags do to give flexibility in the divider layout).
My 2cents!

fuz_cattYeah, the change looks good. I've only got a Peak Design EDM15 right now, but am in line to get to a 4-bag set up; an f-stop Brooklyn Sling, EDM for daily messenger carry, a light backpack for light backpack carry, and a heavy duty backpack for big shoots and travel. For the light backpack, I'm torn between backing the new Vinta Type 2, and the Portage Kenora backpack.

PraxisCatI've got friends that use the Peak Design EDM15 as their everyday carry, and other friends who have the Every Day Backpack. They seem quite well built and practical.
If you're not in a hurry, you could always wait out the Vinta Type II to check out reviews? I'm looking at the Hex Raven Medium DSLR for my travelling camera bag.
