Looking for a way to split my DAC to Multiple Amps

more_vert
Pretty simple, I want to take my DAC's output and send them to a switch/passive pre-amp that goes to one of my amps. I wouldn't run more than one DAC at a time, I would just like to be able to switch without plugging in and out. Does anyone have experience doing this? My two DACS: PC -> Fiber Optic -> Modi 2U CD Player -> USB -> Massdrop O2 + SDAC My Amps: SMSL SA 98-E -> Speakers Little Dot MK III JDS Labs Atom Depending on what I am listening too, I switch my preference of amps. So I am basically looking for a 2 input / 3 output switch. I don't want to degrade the audio quality all that much though. Does anyone have experience with any of these: https://www.amazon.com/Nobsound-Audio-Selector-Bluetooth-Amplifier/dp/B07CGF5RZF/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=passive+preamp&qid=1555863076&s=gateway&sr=8-7

I have this, you can input 2 DACS and have 4 outputs for amps or active speakers, or the other way , 4 in, 2 out, Doesn't impact sound quality, to my ears at least. : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stereo-4-IN-2-OUT-RCA-Audio-Signal-Splitter-Switcher-Selector-Passive-Preamp/263311871452?hash=item3d4e9c4ddc:g:hy4AAOSw43haBQuz&frcectupt=true

Check out these switch boxes. http://mfspdesigns.com/index.php/en/all-products/switch-box The lead time was a little long as he is based out of Portugal but it is all custom handmade work built to order and it blends in well with an existing setup.

I use this as a 1 to 4 switch (1 DAC to 4 amps) and have no noise: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NTJET10/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can probably string two back-to-back and make a 4-to-4 switch.
I do something similar as my DAC needs to feed both my stereo and my headphone amp(s). The last two DAC's I've used were both balanced so they include RCA SE outputs and XLR balanced outputs. You could go the most basic route and use a splitter cable, this does reduce the overall voltage reaching either source. In my case I ran this setup on the XLR outputs, with the already higher voltage from the XLR splitting the signal didn't create issues on the downstream gear. Passive pre-amps will probably result in the least alteration of the signal. In the end getting a DAC with more outputs would be the best option, also the most the expensive. For three outputs you are looking at something like the Benchmark DAC 3 or Gungnir.
