ALT High-Profile Possibly Dead Already, Help?

EDIT: IT LIVES!!! I ended up tearing the build down completely, being very meticulous in carefully handling all the switches, keycaps, the brimmed plate and --- most especially --- the thin acrylic diffusion ring insert that provides the underglow rim lighting around the edges of the keyboard, DO NOT BEND THAT THING or you will have such regrets, and last but not least, the PCB itself which I placed upon a static bag until I could make room to set up a Helping Hands station to hold it for inspection. Once I got everything down to the PCB itself, I noticed a glint out of the corner of my eye with my LED inspection flashlight and lo and behold, there it was. I really wish I took a damn picture, but I was so over the whole ordeal that I just wanted to fix the f'ing thing. But anyways, it was a tiny super thin coiled copper burr that must have shorn off via cutting action upon the insertion of, and then later broken loose from one of the switches' board pins. I guess between transporting it from home to work one day and back, and then a subsequent intense night of gaming, was enough to jitter the burr to a shorting point somewhere on the board? Only hypothesizing at this point. I -did- notice some grease smudges on the board and a lot of machining dust i'm guessing from the whole assembly and storage process, but all of the larger smudges i found were on the solder masking and not any live traces that i could see. After a quick high-pressure dust-out, followed by some contact cleaner on a couple dirty contacts throughout the board, I plugged it in and it came alive with beautiful, blnding, angelic RGB glory! I'm so happy it came back to meeeeeee! ^__^ Thanks all for the suggestions, and if anyone else has this unfortunate thing happen to their MD keyboards, open them up (if your warranty permits, or if you dont care either way, i know i didn't because i didn't even check & double check again before opening it up! oops!) and clean it out thoroughly with the usual electronics-friendly means. You might be able to bring it back! Cheers! -AK
Was just doing regular casual gaming upon my new ALT high-pro when all of a sudden my character in-game just suddenly lost control but kept running forward at the same pace. Noticed the RGB on the keyboard went completely dark, and Alt-Tabbing out of the game was a no-go, then the horror sank in. It seems that the keyboard is dead . :( I had plugged in to my PC via standard USB-A 3.1 slot, to the keyboard's leftmost USB-C port, via Mechables coiled A-to-C cable. None of my other USB peripherals died in this fashion and continue to operate nominally, and no hardware events were discovered about this specifc device other than it had disconnected from the built-in backplane hub. I tried unplugging it and replugging it via its rightmost USB-C port, no go. Also tried doing a reset of the keyboard by unplugging it completely, holding down the reset button under the keyboard and plugging it back in. No go. Tried plugging it in to my personal and work laptops, no go. Nothing was spilled on this keyboard, and I take very good care of all of my hardware. I'm at a loss. The next step would be to do a PCB inspection but I'm afraid that doing so will void the warranty, damnit. If it's something simple like a cold solder joint or blown fuse somewhere on the board then I can fix that in 5 mins myself. Has anyone else had issues with their ALT High-Pros since receiving this latest batch? Breaks my heart, man... it was my favorite keeb out of the MD collection... really hope its not truly toast. :( I've had this keyboard for only about a month now, and had just sung its high praises in a MD review only a week prior to this unfortunate turn of events. Really disappointing overally. Welp, if anyone has any recommendations on next steps I am all ears, with warranty preservation in mind. I have a strong feeling that if I engage MD support on this one, they will simply issue a refund instead of sending me a new unit and I'll have to wait until God-knows-when before they are offered via drop or standard purchase again. Ugh !

The first board I received was DOA, the replacement board I received had LEDs that would not turn on. Plugged in and the LEDs flash for a second before turning off. Tried everything and nothing works.

Amro_AbulnassYup, tried a couple different ones. No joy. Also tried with another system as well, also using multiple cables. When getting up close to the keyboard for basic physical inspection I detected a really strong burnt PCB smell that we all know and hate with a passion. I'm probably just going to open it up today and find out for myself what went wrong, and post an update here with my findings. Hopefully it's just an easy fix like a cold solder joint or a blow SMD fuse or something. Wish me luck!
