Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. I've bought things form MD for about 2.5 years now and have placed about a dozen orders to date, with 1 failing and 1 being cancelled with little warning due to payment issue caused by my CC. I was pretty pissed at MD about that last one, but turned out to be a blessing because the cancelled order was for SA Carbon set and I later realized that I don't like SA profile. Generally speaking, everything I'd ordered to date has arrived and in satisfactory condition. I've been fortunate to not get stuck with all the painful issues others in the community have experienced. *knock on wood*
I'm going to keep buying stuff from MD because its the best place I can easily get some cool MechKbd stuff, albeit with some delays. If people want to drop MD from their vendor list, so be it. To each his own. If you find something better, please let me know since competition will only benefit the entire community.
Just wanted to make you aware that alternatives are out there and plentiful at this time. Happy Clacking!
