Interesting collaboration. I see the similarities. Benchmade gains the visibility from the Shinola customer base that may not particularly be knife people and Shinola picks up a quality product. I think Shinola will have to be up front with marketing it as having Benchmade roots or they will be hard pressed to get their traditional high cost model for sales to a knife enthusiast.

MyPenNeedsInkAgreed, I would be interested to see a review. I wonder if there is any better QC on them than blue or green class or if it is as hit or miss as Benchmade has been the last couple years. Hopefully at least treated like gold class, but like I said - not much independant info out there. Also, wonder why they chose to do the full size monolock of all models if its to attract new customers. Maybe so they could say "all titanium framelock flipper." ?? Hopefully they solved the lock-stick or they might have some frustrated hipster customers, ha!

zaphrodboxIt may depend on who sees it last. Shinola or Benchmade. I think Benchmade is balancing a fine line of the increased output to meet increasing sales at a small sacrifice of consistent quality. Yes they will lose some customers over the inconsistent quality but I suspect they are gaining more than they are losing.

MyPenNeedsInkYeah, and most of their old faithful customers are probably comfortable putting their own edge on it and tweaking any issues that QC misses. I for one am a customer regardless, even having bought a couple that could have been better out of the box, but I'm not sure if I would feel the same if my first ever experience with a Benchmade and introduction to multiple hundred dollar knives was kinda janky. But, I have heard Benchmade has really gotten back on track for the most part lately, so I hope they keep it up.

zaphrodboxI haven't bought alot of Benchmade product but every one I have ever purchased has been great out of the box. I'm probably not as discerning as some internet purists but I've been a knife enthusiast since childhood and I think my grading for the price I pay is pretty fair. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Benchmade if the look caught my eye. I have been disappointed in a few customs but that was letting the hype over ride my patience to study and research. Live an learn.
