Make your drops visible!

more_vert
Hey gals and guys, make your drops visible for the world to see!
I think it's kinda cool to see what people are buying; not only you can randomly find stuff "you did not know you needed" (LOL) by checking other members' drops, but it also give members an incentive to follow you.
Indeed, myself when I see a member doing drops on cool stuff, I usually follow them so I can later go back and see their new drops, their posts, etc. I can also ask them a question about a drop they made. For example, say I'm interested in a Spyderco knife, and I see the member has posted on its discussion thread. A quick look reveals that the member has made a past drop on, say, a similar Benchmade knife. I can then ask about that Benchmade knife, and how it would compare for X or Y with the Spyderco being discussed.
This all enhances the social aspect of Massdrop! So do it!
Go to Settings / Privacy to do so... I did it, hope many will follow...

Thanks for posting this, really interesting that you mentioned it because @ltopper and I were talking about this yesterday. I totally understand members wanting to keep their complete purchase history private - but that also hides the 'star' indicator next to your name if you are participating in the discussion for a drop that you joined.
Very curious to know what do you guys think: 1) How important is it for you to know if someone commenting in discussion has participated in the drop? 2) Do you think keeping purchase history private should apply to the star in drop discussions, or just a complete history in your profile?

JonasHeinemanSome answers: 1) I guess it's a "nice to have" - but not a deal breaker - since the member could have purchased the product from another source. 2) In my opinion, drops history should not be private... What's the use of keeping it private? BUT, since there will be always people opting to keep it private, discussion score and activity should be kept visible at all times (kinda like in forums)...
I think mine are off, but I'm also a vendor. (edit, just turned them on) I'm surprised they even give you the option to hide them.

Couldn't agree more. I keep going down the rabbit hole on products other members thought were cool, things they've written and product photos they've posted.
