Another AYE! for a seperate knife community. Ultralight and a bit heavier all together to peruse. I am also tired of knives with blades made of cheap chnese steel, 8cr13Mv....whatever it is. I've picked p a few now and really dislike that steel for various reasons. I am a knife snob, and would love to see some higher end knives. Fixed and folders welcome, and perhaps some with a steel higher in quality than VG-10, which can be a decent steel for sure with a good heat trea. But more CPM S30V type blade steel quality and above. I don't know that Busse Combat is set up for a site like this, as they build to order, but if terms could be reached with them that would be AMAZING! Also, customs or even mid-techs from known, and respected makers using higher quality materials and steels would be nice. Unfortunately most custom makers, at least the ones who can't afford VERY expensive equipment to produce numbers like this site would require, tend to have a order book that a big batch of orders coming in at once may render that idea unfeasible. As HowAmI mentioned, all the cheap CRKT's with cheap steel has me bored to tears. Having never tried this horrible steel, when I picked up the CRKT M-16, I was really disappointed. I had one of the original models, in AUS-8, If i recall correctly, which was a MUCH nicer knife. I ended up giving that one to a friend overseas, assuming I could always replace it, but what I got from here just felt so cheap compared to the original. I'm a big fan of Lucas Burnley's knives and my heart fell when I gave the chinese steel on the M-16 workout because I already had a CRKT Burnley designed Buku on the way with the same blade steel. Even with an older steel such as AUS-8, I'd buy that over another 8Cr13@&$@! blade. While I rarely go above the $600 mark, I'm betting you would find folks interested in better, higher quality, costlier blades. More Benchmade knives perhaps, even CRKT's if they involve a decent blade steel. I understand there are plenty of people that want a knife to dig in the dirt with, something that no tears are spilt if it breaks or is lost, but I believe there would be a market at the other end of this he scale as well. And I second the idea of looking into Bark River and Esse knives. My $0.02 Oh, by the way, there is no such thing as surgical stainless steel. Not sure if that was a joke or not, but stainless has too much nickel it to be used in surgery due to the high number of people that are allergic to nickel. Some things ARE labeled as such, but it's not a real thing according to a medic friend who loves and collects knives as well.;-)

Ryan28801Just wondering why you hate 8cr13mov so much? From my personal experience my 8cr13 blades holds an edge better than my aus8 blade. Although my aus8 experience is limited to the crkt eros ss.

Kaozer[Moderated] 8Cr13MoV is very weak in terms of everything. It's extremely soft so using it will immediately become dull quicker than a cheap box cutter. AUS-8 isn't any better it's not a great edge holder it's not a super great steel all it is, is a better version of the 8Cr series. People and companies like CRKT treat AUS-8 and Cr act like they're super steels when they're not. Ie CRKT Foresight using AUS-8 steels for 90 bucks from a dealer 140 MSRP I just got my H&K Axis Tanto G10 Axis lock and D2 for 85 bucks after shipping or my Kershaw Blur in S30V for 63 bucks after shipping.

HowAmIshittiest steel money can buy would be something like 420J2 and extremely soft?i dunno about that. 59 hrc from my CRKT Deviation isnt what i would call soft. and dulling quicker than a box cutter yet again not really. if i used a box cutter id go trough a blade in a week but i sharpen my 8cr13mov blades about every 3 weeks. To me it sounds more like you are hating the steel either because its chinese or because you got a knife with this steel that had poor heat treatment.

Kaozer[Moderated] Anybody can claim that their 8Cr13MoV is 59 HRC when it's not. My cheap box cutters will last longer than 8Cr13MoV

Kaozer[Moderated] 8Cr13MoV is very soft and will not hold an edge for long same goes for AUS-8 even BladeHQ claims 8Cr13MoV is a low end steel. AUS-8 and 8Cr13MoV knives are overpriced
