Does anyone have a recommendation for a good set of stainless steel cookware for use on an induction cooktop? I've been looking at WMF, Zwilling and Viking but I don't know who makes higher quality cookware. My budget is upto $400.

MedekiahAll Clad is the gold standard in stainless steel cookware, but you’re not going to get much of it with $400. I’ve been using Calphalon tri-ply for several years now. It works on my stovetop as well as my induction plate, it’s pretty sturdy, and costs a lot less than All-Clad. I haven’t heard anyone complain about Tramontina either, as long as you can stand to step foot in a Wal-Mart.

MedekiahI am using WMF, but only because I managed to score a whole bunch of it at a clearance sale. I have some Lacors as well, I prefer gas, but I also use induction.

MedekiahSales are nice, but you have to keep an eye out for them. Also, don’t forget to check outlet malls for factory seconds, and overstock stores like TJ Maxx and Ross.

MastermungI would love some all clad but like you said it's nowhere near my price range. I've read up on Calphalon and they've got pretty good ratings. They have a set around $380 that looks pretty nice. Good idea about the overstock stores I never thought to look there.

FuzzAmazon has some WMF sets but the sellers seem kinda shady to me haha otherwise I would buy them since they're so inexpensive.

MedekiahI really love my Mauviel cookware. I have an portable induction single "burner" unit I use mine on and they're brilliant. I consider them a step above All Clad, personally, as they aren't made in China like a lot of All Clad is these days. You can find sets and pieces on Sierra Trading Post, and with a coupon they can be reasonable. Worth every penny.

inthewoodsWhen you say “a lot of All-Clad..” is made in China, which All-Clad pieces are you referring to? It’s my understanding that while their celebrity endorsed stuff like Emerilware, or the appliances are made in China, any cookware is made in Pennsylvania.

Mastermungit depends. some of it is made in the states, and some pieces in China. For example, when I was shopping for a stock pot, the All Clad ones were Chinese manufactured, such as this one: https://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-1551522/All-Clad+Pasta+Pot;jsessionid=BCD570C45D1BF1E2245623BD933D46AF.slt-app-03-p-app1?cat=cat450425_All-Clad This roaster is also Chinese: https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/all-clad-stainless-steel-roaster/?pkey=e%7Call%2Bclad%7C161%7Cbest%7C0%7Cviewall%7C24%7C%7C44&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH Most of it is still made in the US and its still superb cookware, but I'm just alerting you to the fact that some of it is NOT made here, and it's not necessarily branded under a celebrity etc. :)
