Very informative article. I look forward to purchasing my first (cheap) fountain pen and learning more! This may become a serious problem for my wallet down the road.

CupofCopyProceed with caution. Fountain pens can be habit forming, to the point ( or nib) of being a hazard to your wealth. If you are fortunate enough to live where stores actually carry fountain pens, go try some out. SBRE Brown has hundreds of fountain pen reviews on YouTube, as well as Goulet Pens. I highly recommend the TWSBI Eco for newbies. It's usually between $30 and $40, and writes as well or better than pens 2 or 3 times that price. It is a piston filler, so no fumbling with cartridges or converters. Happy writing!

kg4giyAnd Goulet Pens— if I hadn’t already mentioned them. All fine places willing to trade pens and ink for your bank account.

ZaydabobYes, the TWSBI Eco is an attractive, well made pen, and great value. It performs well.
