It's a nice article, and I love the idea, but the question I keep asking myself is: Why do mechanical keyboard aficionados hate ergonomics? I'm not opposed to the idea of paying a lot of money for a keyboard. I mean, it is my primary mode of interacting with my computer. However, there don't seem to be any ergo layouts, and the popularity of hand-shatteringly tiny keyboards seems to be on the rise. I want to get into mechanical keyboards, and I've added the Massdrop community so I can keep abreast of products, but when I look at them while sitting in from of my Microsoft Natural 4000, I just see pain, despite how gummy the 4000's depress feel is.

irfonThanks! For starters, I think there is a lot of love for Ergo keyboards within the community, though it is still a niche. I mean, LZ - one of the best makers of customs in the world - made an ergo even, so the interest is definitely there. This thing was a hoss:

Jesse with Keyboardio is really doing something special (basically a MUCH better ergodox), as well as Adereth and his Dactyl (basically a Kinesis without the huge plastic case).

Jack at OLKB.com is also very interested in making more ergonomic keyboards. His ortholinear boards really change the whole philosophy behind how to use a keyboard, and what naturally feels good to use (I'm a massive fan of all his work).
So don't totally lose faith already that there aren't really passionate people that are into ergo keyboards, because there definitely are! I can probably do a full article just on Ergo boards even! They aren't ever the cheapest boards around, but I still think that a good keyboard is an investment. If you are anything like me you will have more hands on use than just about anything else in the house.

irfonThere's quite a few ergo keyboards already as lsb explained, I can't use one because of how I type but I love to see what people do with them.

irfonYeah, all I want is, the Microsoft 4000, but mechanical. All the available ergo mechanical boards have these super-exotic layouts that take weeks to train on. I just want a normal ergo board!
