iPod touch, especially if its for a car... Most car systems only work with iPod / iPhone. And you can find older models with 32GB or more on ebay relatively cheap. I have a 1st, 4th and 6th gen.

If I talk about best music player then according to me iTunes is the best software for musics and creating playlist. Because I am an iPhone user and I know very well that iTunes is always supportable an understanding for me. Just to piggy back on this thread, I'm also looking for a relatively simple player for my car. I've long been a fan of the Sansa line, but they've seemingly decided to make their latest models worse in every conceivable way from their older ones.
Here's what I look for in a player: 1 - ability to easily load playlists from a computer (using Mediamonkey, but any PLS/M3U support should be covered in this) 2 - ability to resume podcasts 3 - more than 4 GB of storage space 4 - optionally, a speed control for podcasts
This doesn't seem like too much to ask, but so many reviews of DAPs ignore every one of those items, except for storage. I apparently do not represent a large demographic, but I used to! :-)

Shanling m2s ($199.99) is a nice option, personally I'm waiting for the m3s to go on sale. The Cowon Plenue D is on sale on Amazon atm for $189.99 with very solid reviews
