I'm relatively new to apparel sewing, but I made a washi dress a few months ago and was really pleased with the result. I basically just followed the pattern directions for sewing the rolled hem (i.e. how far to turn the fabric under, how many times, etc) all the way around, and I think it looks fine. It's so full and flowy that I'm not sure a little variation/wonkiness would be terribly obvious. Maybe I have no clue...but I still wear it all the time and feel great in it! 😊

EpidendronThank you @Epidendron! It definitely is a full dress so maybe I should just bit the bullet and do the rolled hem and hope for the best. :-) I ordered some double gauze that just arrived and I'm temped to use the same pattern and make another one. It's a toss up between Washi and the Dottie Angel Frock.

SandyLucasYes, you've made it that far, don't let an unfinished hem keep you from enjoying that pretty dress! Haven't seen the Dottie Angel Frock before...going to look it up, it looks like something that could be achievable for me... :)

SandyLucasBe aware that the Dottie Angel has NO shaping at all- the little ties do little to make it curve in at the waist. If you have the body type to wear that type of thing and look good in it, that's great, but otherwise you'll need to draft the pattern to create some shaping so it will be flattering.

danaofunwindI noticed that too and was thinking I might make a muslin frock first and try using elastic thread on the back to create more of a waist.

SandyLucasI've seen people add shirring at the back waist on it. That would likely work.
