The question comes down to: can you hear the difference between mp3 320kbps and uncompressed music. I know that I cannot. So all of my music collection are in 320kbps.

ReheapificationIf you're fine with 320kbps, might as well buy the LP instead of the CD. Vinyl purchases basically all come with MP3 download codes, so it's the best of both worlds.
320kbps is the lowest quality file I will keep in my library. I might not hear the difference for everyday listening, but if I'm going to buy music to own, I am not going to settle for anything lower than Spotify Premium quality. It's a waste of money, since I can stream it already at 320kbps.
I'll only buy a CD these days if I can't find a lossless version for purchase, and I really like the artist. I'll buy CDs from the merch booth at shows for the same reason.
That said, I'll buy FLAC and 24bit wav if it's available. I actually *can* tell the difference on some (not many) recordings if I listen critically, and if I'm going to bother spending the time and money to own, store, and organize an album, I might as well get the highest quality possible. My media library is basically a collection I've been working on for years so why compromise?

ReheapificationMany people here should be able to tell the difference pretty easily. The better equipments you get your hands on(and ears) it becomes more and more obvious.
