[Pictured: KDVS in Davis]
Being a huge dork & former radio show host, I've naturally gotten around to putting my favorite albums into some sort of an ordered list. I find it changes every few years I've done it. Let's hear what you all have! Feel free to include any sort of ranking system (or lack thereof), or any number of albums.
Here's how mine shook out:
10. Neil Young - Harvest
9. Wire - Pink Flag
8. Judee Sill - Judee Sill
7. The Beach Boys - Smile Sessions
6. Sun Ra - The Antique Blacks
5. Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
4. Can - Ege Bamyasi
3. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
2. Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
1. Joanna Newsom - Divers
BONUS NERD ROUND: Ok, this is silly, but what are your favorite years in music? I had this conversation recently with some friends after going through the RateYourMusic album charts: https://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/.
5. 1970
4. 1968
3. 1991
2, 1988
1. 1977

Just seeing this now. Great list. Agree on so many. But.... can you justify your exclusion of Fleetwood Mac - Rumors !? Genuinely curious. Seems to fit your tastes. Won't be too angry at your reply.

Ranking the albums I’ve heard probably won’t ever be possible for me to do, but I can name a few that would be really high up for me. I’m also certain this will change drastically over time as I’ve still only really scratched the surface. Slint - Spiderland Godspeed You Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven The Avalanches - Since I Left You Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood

Probably something along the lines of:
  1. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
  2. Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
  3. Elliott Smith - Either/Or
  4. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's
  5. Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
  6. Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica
  7. Iceage - Plowing Into the Field of Love
  8. The Jesus Lizard - Goat
  9. Can - Future Days
  10. Can - Tago Mago
If I really put a lot of thought into it, I'd probably realize just how much stuff I left out lol. These are definitely some of the first records that come to mind though.
