Are you looking for JUST a DAC, or a DAC/Amp? If you're buying an external DAC, you're going to be wanting an Amp as well. At your price range however, I do suggest a DAC/Amp combo.
Second question: Why do you want a DAC? Are you getting interference buzzing or hissing from the device you're using without one?
Third question: Portable or Desktop?

adartzivionAKG M220 are probably the hardest to drive in that bunch. If you want something desktop based, the FiiO E10K is hard to go wrong with unless you plan to get some much harder to drive headphones in the future. For a little more there's also the Fulla 2 near the top end of your budget. For portable the Dragonfly Black should be able to handle the M220 just fine, and is definitely the smallest. The FiiO E17K or if you don't need quite as many features, the FiiO Q1 fit within your price range and should perform fine with any of those headphones.

adartzivionIf you're talking about the Massdrop x AKG-M220 Pro here on the site. 55 Ohms Impedance 91 dB/mw Sensitivity
Compared to the Koss and the E-MU, you're looking at higher impedance and lower sensitivity on the headphones, so to read a similar sound level as the others it will require more power. Since it needs more power, it's "harder to drive" That being said, any of the suggestions here for DAC/Amp should be more than capable of driving them.

adartzivionIt's the Amp part that is providing power. The power you'll be providing will be based on the volume knob you're using. A general rule of thumb: If you're blowing out your eardrums, turn the music down. The point you'd damage the headphones will be a ways past the point you'd have damaged your hearing.

ZilfallionEar damage also depend on how long you are being exposed to a loud sound but not wise to check it. I need to find a good ear plugs for concert I go to listen.

adartzivionYeah, but if the sound is clearly painfully loud, you know you're going to be doing damage to your eardrums if you keep listening. The same common sense will keep you from damaging your headphones.

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?

I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones. Looking for a gaming/content audio setup

Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on audio setups. I'd be planning on using it mostly for gaming. Preferably I'd like a pair of large closed back headphones since I have a big head and jaw. I'd also like to hear myself through my mic with mic monitoring. As far as budget goes, I don't really have one. But under 600$ would be nice. I can go higher if needed. The audio setup would be connected to a high performance PC. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

$10 Drop Coupon Email not sent?

Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.
