Is it going to be PBT or ABS?
swwestDoubleshot ABS for highest quality.

banzaiPretty sure he meant doubleshot ABS for the highest quality of ABS over something like laser etched.
PBT being higher quality is subjective, anyways. Sure it doesn't get the shine of ABS but it also can't be made in the same vibrant colors as ABS, which may be someone's idea of "quality." Not everyone likes the PBT textured feel, as well.
banzaiWhat defines quality is just one's preference.

banzaiClearly the point went over your head. Compare that set to the original Miami and tell me again how that set is "vibrant."

ashirakiI don't own a set yet because Laser is the first one I've bought but I did try a GMK set that a friend owns. They felt very smooth and no texture at all. Red Samurai will be the second set I buy :)

TanvirK175I think PBT as a material is superior to ABS .. like steel is superior to PVC.. thought both have pros cons etc etc. I think thats what Banzai meant when he said PBT is superior. Cause it technically is from a materials stand point. Though what feels better will very from person to person.

HotRoderXI agree with you on a material standpoint but on feel standpoint, it's subjective as you said. Not sure if that was what Banzai meant but I inferred it was on key feel. If I'm wrong, my fault.

TanvirK175yes any material that degrades quicker than another, is inherently of less quality/inferior. Things like colour options and texture don't really contribute to how durable a material is. Its a bloody keycap its not like you're rubbing sandpaper...

TanvirK175Coming to this late, but do you mean Miami or Hawaii? Because all I'm finding for either seems to be Tao Hao.

banzaiNot going to express an opinion on which material is "better" because it is subjective. But I would like to say: This -> "any material that degrades quicker than another" does NOT imply this->"is inherently of less quality/inferior. "
The only thing this tells us about PBT and ABS is that PBD is harder. Hardness is 1 of many qualities that describe a material.
Pretend you have 2 keycap sets made out of different metals, just as PBT and ABS are both plastics. One set is made of stainless steel and one is made out of cast iron. The stainless steel keycaps would degrade quicker, due to daily use, than the cast iron set because it is a softer metal. does that mean that stainless steel is of less quality and is an inferior material to cast iron? No, it just means it has different properties, one of them being hardness. Put them in a salt bath and you have a different story.

Here is one example. This wasn't the very original. Miami is quite popular and many spin-off sets and redo's have been done. I believe the original was done by SP and this one is done by MAXKEY.
