According to iFixit teardown of the early 2015 models of macbook air, Apple's been implementing the Cirrus Logic 4208-CRZ, so the DAC itself is quite superior.
As Will pointed out, and some head-fi'ers discussed as well, full line level out is the option to go for if you want to retain the macbook DAC sound signature, while connecting it to an analog amp.
As discussed in head-fi, there was no recognizable deterioration in sound quality ("sound clipping" as the user stated), and I guess this is the only viable option.
