Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

With the 6XX I often find myself rediscovering old songs, being able to appreciate the nuances and minor details that I couldn't hear before. And they're somewhat forgiving with low-quality recordings too, while being just enought detailed, a great compromise IMO. Perfect all-rounders if you're not a basshead, and even if you are (like me) you'll eventually appreciate their sound. They do not excel with any genre, maybe rock, but literally almost everything sounds really good and enjoyable.
You could also consider the Beyerdynamic DT880/DT990, both open back and well known. I suggest you to get either 80 ohm or 250 ohm versions, maybe 600 ohm if you have a capable amp. Shure 215s are my go-to recommendation in IEMs . You won’t find sound nearly as good for the price and you can wear them while laying on your side which is a huge plus in my book.
I have a few friends which prefer it to my senns though it gets a lot murkier when they try on the hd800 as they actually are quite similar in terms of sound.
Not that I’d use either for portable audio, since they both bleed sound like a mofo.
I guess my wording was awkward. I might go as far as to say soundstage is comparable or better than the 800s, but only marginally if that.
