For Those Who Don't Know!

Tidal HiFi (Master) is absolutely amazing! I don't know what I was doing this whole time without this streaming service or did I finally break and gone crazy?
I'm running Schiit Wyrd -> Bifrost Multibit -> Jotunheim -> Fostex TH-X00 Ebony / Sennheiser HD6XX
Incredibly smooth sound, precise and powerful playing anything out of anything, maybe my foobar is fubar'd.

I’ve been using Tidal for a couple of years with great results. I’m using an Ifi Neo dac paired with the latest Bluesound 2 streamer, feeding my primary 2-channel system (Anthem integrated, Martin Logan Ethos speakers). The sound is great, generally so for their Masters — but it can’t fix a mediocre recording. Many non Masters will sound better than Masters. The original recording quality matters most. The interface via the Tidal Connect mobile app also works flawlessly. I recently also subscribed to the Qobuz streaming service as many audio manufacturers I trust swear by it. Comparing the two, IMO, Qobuz does often edge Tidal out but it’s song dependent. But here’s where Qobuz falls down for me. Its mobile interface is unusable for how I often access music. You can search for a song or artist of course, but it’s flawed. You can’t sort or search for a song or artist inside of a playlist. And when searching all tracks, It only searches the first 300 tracks. You have to scroll to the bottom to add 300 more, etc, but what if you have thousands of songs? You’re scrolling potentially a dozen times. I’ve brought this to their attention and they say they’re working on it. But it’s disqualifying for me till they fix it. Meanwhile, Tidal’s app works flawlessly and it’s been great for new music discovery. It’s algorithm gets me! Enjoy.

Tidal is well worth the subscription costs. My go to for high quality master level listening. I very highly recommend to anyone searching for next level experience. Enjoy

I have tidal hifi service. It costs me $120 a year. I buy a year's service from Best Buy. Ok to start off with I'm 71 my hearing probably maxes out somewhere around 12K to 13k. The truth of the matter is that most of you think you have better hearing then you actually do. I have this hooked up 2 ways. First was with a A&K 100 mk2 and a MOJO. The sound was fantastic with IEMs and Audeze and Hifiman phones. I also run through my 2 Channel and it sounds as good as any cd. I feed my amp through a Bluesound Node 2i and a RME AD1 2 FS. I do think that Tidals sound is like any music source. The better the equipment the better it will sound. I recently upgraded tubes in my preamp and it made a difference. I've got 3 sets of tubes and each presents a different sound. Going with OCC Ohno interconnects made a difference. I guess what I'm saying is that really Tidal can be as good sounding as you want or average. I don't find the interface clunky or bad at all. People complain that they don't use and are stunned they get charged. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that how all streaming services are. I mean if I sign up for Showtime or HBO, I will be charged whether I watch of not. Stop being fan boys and just enjoy the music instead of analyzing it to death.

Tidal said, more than a year ago, that it would add the ability to control Tidal running on PC with the Tidal app on your phone. They have not delivered on that promise. To take full advantage of Tidal’s high resolution files, a quality DAC should be used to feed your system. In most cases this means that a PC running the Tidal app feeds that DAC. As is, you can only control that PC app by using the actual PC the app is installed on. Spotify provides the ability to control any device running Spotify with any other device running Spotify. Although Tidal said they would provide this functionality more than a year ago, they have not. Everytime you want to change a song, you need to get up and go to your PC. It’s like it’s 1975 and you need to put a different song on the turntable, only it’s 2022, and it’s not a turntable.

Have to get a new DAC to decode MQA for the “full experience” and Schitt will never support the MQA playback. I used to subscribe to tidal because it was one of the first to stream hi-res audio but now that more are coming on the market I have switched.

Yes, Tidal is an amazing way to get scammed out of 20 bucks. Very quick and efficient. One of the shadiest companies I’ve ever dealt with.

Sure, just make sure you cancel the trial the day before because there’s no way to automatically cancel,the trial at the end and they will not refund you even if you never used the service/logged into your account/contacted them the minute the charge goes through. They’re the only company I’ve ever heard of doing this, and it’s a massive issue if you look into it on Reddit/Headfi. This company‘s reputation is in the gutter with their poor/clunky UI, massively overpriced services and rogue borderline illegal trade practices to straight up illegal/getting sued. Honestly, I’ve tried Tidal for a year and there’s nothing special about the service, the comments here from low upvote/brand new accounts talking so artificially positive about this is not surprising to me in the least, more shady tactics from Jayz and his goons.

League544I have Tidal but I reduced the 19.99 price (never pay 27 through apple) to 9.99 by using my brother’s student discount, which is now coming to an end. Tidal also charges you every 28-29 days instead of 30, so after 6 years they owe me a lot of free days! I like that they have some music that Apple Music doesn’t have but now that Apple Music is finally using the masters at no extra charge to give us 70+ million songs, all with either Lossless (16/44.1), Hi-Res Lossless (up to 24/192), and many are in Spatial Audio (headphones)/Dolby Atmos (speakers). They are NOT getting rid of the lightning port because in the white paper they tell us we need it to connect a DAC for anything higher than 24/48 (their stupid adapter).

Tidal Is Not Going Anywhere And I, for one, am pleased about the deal Jay-Z struck with Jack Dorsey and Square. It means I'll be able to listen to high-quality streaming on my music dedicated home set up (Macbook Pro, Audirvana, JDS Labs Objective, Bewitch Amp w/ K88s & Full-Range 2.8 MkII AN 10" Classics) and FiiOs M11 w/ HD6XX for quite a while longer. I am amazed that some folks don't hear the sound-quality difference Tidal brings to the table compared to Spotify. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/04/business/media/tidal-square-jay-z-dorsey.html

rjorgecI definitely do, I’ve gotten scammed by them twice already and then when I looked into it I looked it up on Google I saw that this is a huge issue and that people are furious over this, so that made me even more mad. Look up “Tidal hidden charge Reddit” or something along those lines and you’ll see pages of people fuming over it. Zero tolerance refund policy + hidden charges. They are the single only company that I’ve ever dealt with that have such a “f off” customer service/policy. This is a dirty company and I hope I helped highlight that.

I’m a big fan of Tidal's. The sound quality is top notch and, when they sent me the $4 for four months deal, it was easy for me to come back from Spotify. One aspect that I haven't seen people mention is the 360 degree sound feature that Tidal has in collaboration with Sony. I picked up some recently price-reduced Sony WF 1000XM3's (high-end, noise-cancelling earbuds) that literally do an ear shape analysis to optimize the 360 degree feature for soundstage enhancement, etc. The feature links directly with Tidal's service (and a few others). I like that Tidal has this experimental side to its personality. Sony also provides an upscaling tech through the earbuds called DSEE HX that makes music files sound more high res. Not an audiophile setup, but between Tidal and this, it's pretty good listening for when you're on the go.

EdLuva360 Degree feature is barely noticeable, but what is noticeable is the song selection, it’s like songs from the 90s nobody liked. They’re so generous to offer you a month or two for “free” so you don’t notice that 20 dollar hidden charge at the end that you CANNOT cancel/refund even if your whole family dies. Go Google “Tidal hidden charge Reddit” and see how many people got ripped off. They did this to me personally twice, both times I messaged them the same day I was charged, nope they don’t care, that’s a huge bonus to their service is charging people speeding tickets, they’re like the police of the internet minus any of the benefits. I didn’t use Tidal for 2 months before I was charged, they can see that I haven’t even logged my account in 2 months, nope don’t care. Shady af. They make Drop look like Amazon in comparison. 😀
