Aluminum Tariffs

more_vert
As most of you have probably heard, tariffs are going to be implemented in 15 days for steel(25%) and aluminum(10%) imports to the US. The biggest thing that comes to mind when dealing with mechanical keyboards is that a huge percentage are milled aluminum. So, what do you guys think this means for the future of mechanical keyboard drops on massdrop?

I'm about to find out. Trying to get some 68keys.io sandwich plates cut from Alu from a vendor.

I never thought I'd see discussions on US trade tariffs in regard to mechanical keyboards... I think it's at this point where you are maybe a little too addicted to them! :D

I think it'll be complicated, because it depends on where it's coming from too.... Canada and Mexico are getting exemptions. https://www.vox.com/2018/3/8/17096510/trump-tariffs-nafta-steel-aluminum
But nothing is set in stone yet, so I wouldn't worry about it too much at this early stage. (Maybe I should worry more?) Ultimately, it is a interesting question though.
