I'm not sure that there is a question in here, but I will make some suggestions for beginners. I am a self quilter of about 14 years. #1 Start simple, there is nothing wrong with making a quilt out of squares, adding rectangles and then HSTs. as you become more capable. #2 Starch, at least medium, maybe heavy. This helps fabric do what you want it to, without slipping and squishing around. #3 Use a fabric guide, screw on, stick on, or magnetic, anything to help keep your stitch an even scant 1/4" from the edge of the fabric. #4 Start small and get bigger as you gain confidence and skill.
