Real quick comment, here. There are very few "true" dress watches available today. The "technical-ish" definition of a "dress watch" is:
* Small. Certainly no larger than 40mm. Preferably 36-38mm. * Thin. So it will easily slide under a cuff. * No complications. Hours and minutes only. * Precious metal. * Leather strap. * No lume.

riffrafffPrecious metal has never been an actual requirement.
And this is, at best, tied to the classic dress codes that are very rarely stipulated. The term now is nowhere near this narrowly defined.

CraigLewisI tend to think it's more of a "pick any 2 or 3 points from the list and break the rules where necessary" type of thing. I associate most of those points with dress watches, but plenty of people wear chronographs as dress watches these days, especially if they're vintage sized

AWPJudyThe lines between watch types can be blurry, but in my book, a chronograph or diver is never a dress watch. They're separate families in themselves. If we include any configuration which might be chosen by some, then the whole term "dress watch" has zero meaning, much as restricting the meaning to the classic formal-dress notion is too limited.

riffrafffI agree. It is just too difficult to find one. I have been searching for 2 months now and I still haven't found the right one yet

riffrafffThere are so many dress watches available at varying prices today. You have Piaget, Harry Winston, Patek, Breguet, even Panerai has a thinner model now that fits the bill. Cartier, parmegiani fleurie, bovet, nomos, Stower, Corum and even Ralph lauren Polo are perfect for dress. Find an original Zodiac or a hamilton or an old gold Gruen or better still a 60s LeCoultre.
