Watch Timing Testers/Timegraphers - Anyone Using?

more_vert
I seem to remember a daily watch post that included a time tester in the background. Is anyone using these? Recommendations? Prices?
Also, demagnitizers: worth the trouble? Do they work?

I think timegraphers are useful if you are willing to work on your watches. If you send your watches out for service, I don't see the appeal of buying one. Timegraphers are a necessary tool for regulating movements to compensate for changes in component properties and wear. As part of this hobby, I have gotten into cleaning and oiling movements, and I typically have to regulate the movements once I am done. I don't have a timegrapher yet (but will have one soon); instead I use a microphone connected to my PC and a software called Audacity to record and inspect the waveform. I use the "ticks" in the waveform to regulate. I also have a demagnetizer (a cheapo, ~$10). It is most useful for me to demagnetize tools; example, screwdrivers and tweezers. I haven't had a magnetized movement, so I can not attest to the usefulness in that regard. They are, however, very easy to use.
