What are the Essential Canon Rebel t5i Lenses to Buy?

more_vert
Hey All,
So I know Canon makes a TON of camera lenses but what lenses are compatible with the Canon Rebel t5i? I am wondering because I want to get some lenses. Right now I have a EFS Canon 18-55mm lens that came with it and a Canon zoom lens EF 75-300mm (Shown Below) Does anyone recommend a good lens for the camera?

My favorite lens would be the 18-135, to use as my GP (general purpose) lens. This lens may handle 95% of what you generally shoot. I use the Nikon version (18-140), and love the zoom range. And a Yongnuo 35/2 lens (less than $100) for low light conditions. The Canon 50mm lens is a short tele on a T5. I would prefer a normal (35) or moderate wide (28) on a APS-C camera, like the T5. Anything beyond this gets into specialty lenses. Example if you shoot baseball or football from the bleachers, then the 75-300 IS would be my choice. Anything longer would be too big/heavy/expensive. Note for a long lens you REALLY want the IS version, not the cheap version without IS.

I would recommend a good 50mm lens. An inexpensive Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM ($125). It's a nice, solid, versatile lens. Canon also makes an EF 40mm f/2.8 STM that you can pick up for about the same cost. With the cropped sensor (APS-C) of the Canon "T" series cameras lenses will convert to different focal lengths. So a 50mm lens will really act more like an 80mm lens and a 40mm is closer to a 60mm lens.
