Maybe, but I wouldn't hold my breath while expecting it to happen anytime soon. In your situation my recommendation would be to look out for used televisions to tide you over in the meantime it takes for a more affordable television to be within your grasp. This is a category of product that depreciates in value quite quickly, yet can hold up in practical usefulness quite well. You're unlikely to find an ultra high definition and high dynamic range O.L.E.D. but when you're working with a tight budget, compromises need to be made, and during this transitional period there is not enough content on the market yet to justify breaking the bank on that. Plasma and some late C.R.T. televisions might be worth looking into since photoluminescent phosphors offer great contrast, with deep blacks and vibrant colors. Especially noteworthy models include the Pioneer Elite Kuros, such as the PDP-5020FD for the Plasmas, and the Sony WEGA Trinitron XBR 960 if you can find them. Now the XBR 960 will require a few helping hands to move even a short distance, and plenty of space, but it is for these reasons people sometimes sell them cheaply or even give them away freely on sites like Craigslist, even despite excellent image quality that still holds up today.

considering all the teething problems their Vast monitor is going through, I would say No, well, i'd be critical of it, unless they go with an old technology and rebrand it to be hella cheap/beater tv.

I just put in a poll based on lots of reading up on the TVs available right now. Because of viewing angles, I would love an LG OLED, but I just don't have the money for it. I'm trying to stick to my budget and that's what my poll is about. Look I it up for yourself asked please vote:
