I'm more of a one-headphone-at-a-time kind of guy. I am enjoying my HD6XX but see myself realistically buying a Hifiman HE-6 in the future. Maybe an Elex if it evers comes back around. Though, my next purchase in the near future is most likely going to be a new DAC.

JackulaAny idea what amp you're going to drive HE-6 with? I don't know that I've ever really heard what people settle on for those. If my quick and dirty calculations are correct, you need 20W+ to drive them. That sounds like a small loudspeaker amp to me

HeeftyHm, my calculations arrived at a minimum of 6.3W for 115dB of headroom. Amp I'll be using is my Audio-GD HE-9, which can do about 7.2W and according to reviews can easily drive the HE-6. I also tried the headphone on smaller amps like the ifi Pro which does about 4.5W into them and the headphone already sounded better than a Focal Utopia.

JackulaLike I said: quick and dirty. I just calculated 120dB from innerfidelity measured sensitivity (or power for 90dB or whatever they call it) since that was the first number I could find.
It's still incredible what it takes to drive those things.
