Let's see your toolbox!

more_vert
Like most mechanics, my collection of tools has steadily increased over the years as the complexity of the projects I'm working on has increased along with my experience. This is just a small snapshot of the many boxes of tools I have, but this is my go-to box that contains my most used tools.
The first drawer contains the largest tools - a set of three Craftsman torque wrenches, SK breaker bars, and a 1/2" drive SK ratchet. On the left are my specialty Audi tools like a crank seal pressing tool, rear main seal presser, clutch alignment tool, and subframe alignment pins.

The second drawer is the most opened and includes all of my 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive sockets, a set of hex bit sockets, open end wrenches, and ratcheting box end wrenches.

Last but not least, the three smaller drawers store all my screwdrivers, telescoping mirror, picks, clippers, spudgers, pens & pencils, and a log book. The top shelf has my most used 1/4" ratchet set, a set of 1/4" and 3/8" torx bits, and my plate of stickers.

Really nice tools, but I probably need to get a better box.

Best purchase I ever made is my Snap On KRL1023 Roll Cab (bought used from a guy getting out of the business at a fraction of new cost.) 73" wide and a full 29" deep. I still have a couple empty drawers and I have a ton of tools. I used a combination or organizers though I don't have great pics of the finished products. I used foam for the ratchets and extensions and bought billet aluminum organizers for the sockets. I used standard wrench rails for wrenches (not shown.)

I know this is old, but how do you store all your loose fasteners. I always have extra bolts, screws, washers, etc., after every project. Bags of them now in my toolbox, taking up space.

jreverbI have used glass baby food jars for over 45 years. You can see in them and you can screw the top to the bottom of a wood shelve. Otherwise I just use the slide out plastic drawers for the items that I use on a regular basis. You can also use the larger plastic mayonnaise jars to mount just like the glass baby jars. I was real lucky in the early 60's to find a tall metal file card filling cabinet to fill with the baby jars. hope that this works for you. wpmason

obgynbbqI believe they were an upgrade option that came with the box itself. They were not DIY - sorry!
