Wrist Check

more_vert
Here’s another old watch from my small collection. Todays wrist-check is a mid 1980’s Seiko 5 Automatic.

Another watch I bought for only a few dollars. It needed a bit of cleaning and a fresh band but I found it working well after a mild cleaning. For the first few weeks it ran pretty slow but my local watch repair shop suggested keeping it in a winder for awhile to see if it was willing to loosen up a bit…and it did. The watch only gets strapped on about 3 times a year so the 1min it looses a day is acceptable to me for a watch worn less than occasionally.

I love the look and it falls right in to that office supervisor look of the 70’s and I guess the 80’s as well. As with a few other vintage watches I own the crown can’t be used for manual winding of the movement - in addition the winding rotor is loud and vibrates the watch too much when spinning.

Movement: Seiko 6309A 17 Jewel Japan Made Automatic.
Complications: Date & Date
Case: 37mm Polished Stainless Steel
Crystal: Plastic
Band: 18mm
