Wrist Check

more_vert
Todays wrist check is my Skagen 357LSLB from Denmark

This is my first and only watch that offers a 52-week counter. How many of you actually keep track of the week number? I don’t! I’m only aware of the correct week number when I’m waring this watch. It’s not a useless time-stat but pretty much no one cares….right? Just for the record, it’s week No. 37….ha!

The only reason I bought this watch years ago was because it’s 3rd hand rotates counter-clockwise as it points out the days of the week. Plus this 3rd hand has a little red half moon shaped tip which cradles the 3-letter abbreviation for each day of the week perfectly, I love it. The watch keep pretty good time and has been running off the same battery for about 4-years.

Back to the week counter for a moment - The date, week No. and day complications gets out of sync when the month has +/- days (months with 31, 30, 28 days). If I catch it quickly it’s no big deal but if I haven’t worn the watch for several months, it’s a pain to re-adjust all three complications.

The watch came with an old broken bracelet so as always I ditched it for a nice leather strap with red stitching to match my little red half moon. The specifications of this watch is tough to find online, I know very little about it.

phd1Try this:
Pull the crown out to position #1 (first position). Rotate the crown away from you to advance the date number. Rotate the crown towards you to advance the week day. Continue to rotate the crown towards you to cycle through all seven week days which will cause the week number to advance by 1.

Setting this watch sucks but it needs to be done because we have some months throughout the year that have more or less days and weeks than others. Here’s what I do.

  1. Adjust the week day & date to “yesterdays” week day & date.
  2. This watch is hackable so when “seconds hand” hits 12, pull the crown out to position #2 to stop the watch.
  3. Advance the time until the week week day & date changes to the correct week day & date.
  4. Continue to advance the time to the correct “current” time, then push the crown back in to the watch to start the watch running.
  5. Pull the crown out to position #1 then advance the week day as many times as it takes to change the week number to the “correct” week number. Note: When you get to the correct week number, continue to advance the week day until you land back on the correct and current week day without going over by a day. WARNING: If you go over by a single week day you have to start all over by advancing all the way through to week 52 and then back to the correct week….so pay attention!!!

Tip: Google search “Whats the current week number?”.

Tip: When adjusting the day and date, it’s best to do it before 9PM or some time after 5AM. The gears springs, wheels and cogs that changes the day and date on most watches are sometimes engaged between 9PM and 5AM. They are kinda fragile and can become damaged.

Interesting, I've never seen a week counter on a watch. That's a unique piece you have there.
