There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). I have a few Tommy Hilfiger watches in my collection. They were bought years ago only because I had money burning a hole in my pocket and they were very low cost - under $80. I actually enjoy the look and styling of a select few Hilfiger pieces and will sometimes get complements on them when worn. Of the few that I have the 1791066 is my favorite one because of the brilliant blue dial, kinda has a nautical look to it when paired with the almost oversized numbers on the dial. I also love the red & blue stitching on the brown leather band - it's not that other watch brands don't have stitching, just dual colors I think was a nice touch. Its a good working size at 46mm and keeps time reliably. The leather band is very comfortable but when putting it on it seems overly soft, I have to work a bit more to get the end of the band under the keeper. I know lots of watch collectors don’t favor watches like Hilfiger and Fossil because most are of poor quality when it comes to parts (movements) and workmanship (crooked markers, misaligned bezels) but if I find one that's well constructed and looks good I don’t have a problem with owning it - my handful of Hilfiger’s fit that profile.
