There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). When my son graduated from high school I bought him his second watch, the Invicta Specialty Collection 19399. It was inexpensive in price but gave him a more grown-up look which set him apart from his friends. I was surprised when I stumbled across the Invicta 19397 which is basically the same watch but with all the colors reversed. I figured I would buy it for myself so that my son and I would have another pair of matching watches - the others are a pair of Timex watches which I’ll show on another day.
This Invite Specialty is a bit flashy, standing out like a sore thumb because of all of its gold plating but I guess it’s still a good looking watch. Looks great when wearing a dark colored suit but not so much with simple casual ware like while at the park, or backyard BBQ. also, The links on the bracelet are not solid and kinda makes noise while being worn. I only strap this watch on every now and then so it’s not a big deal but if I start wearing it more I’ll have to slap a leather strap on it to bring it in-line.
