Gorgeous watch and an excellent description. When you can, please post some additional pictures to show those dial details you described. The watches Seiko sells in the US pale in comparison to those they sell in Japan. That's a great example of true Seiko quality.

PetrosDThanks! I tried, believe me, but many of those details are beyond the capabilities of my camera and/or skills. This is truly a watch whose picture does not do it justice.

I found a picture of the dial online. The depth change is really interesting. Nice to know this watch can new found in the US from online dealers. The text at the top of the watch is different, and I like the way yours is better.

PetrosDYeah that's the stuff. A few differences from my Japan domestic version though.. (i) printing: "PRESAGE AUTOMATIC" vs "Automatic 29 JEWELS", (ii) the central recessed portion seems to be glossy here, whereas it is matte on mine, (iii) the sub-seconds marker sitting behind the arabic minute numerals here seems to have been fattened up here, whereas on mine it's not.
....and you just made me realise something else about this watch. The sub-seconds indices are painted in divisions of 4 per second, not 5 per second as you'd normally expect. The 6R27 movement on this is 28,800bph, or 8 beats per second. This means that every other beat of the seconds hand lines up with an individual seconds or sub-seconds marker.
Sweet.
Christmas.
