AvionNDVRThank you very much :) How accurate is the watch, I don't expect so much of course but I am curious. And is movement loud or acceptable?

ChaturangaQuieter than my timex expedition/quartz watches. Accuracy, I'm no watch expert, just got into the hobby, but it's within 5seconds of my phone.
However, I will say the second hand is some what difficult to make stop, you kinda have to hold the crown completely still and ahead minute if you want complete accuracy like I did. I think the term you guys use is hacking? Lol

AvionNDVRThanks for this Avion. I decided to get one also. I think it will make a great first real watch for my grandson. Love that it's a winder, and that swirl on the dial is very nice. How was it frankensteined?

GugliermoUhmm, just based on my research, and this just a very brief summary and explanation... HMT was a government owed or government sponsored company in India, who also manufactured watches.
Their watch factories closed down years ago 2013ish, so most of the HMT watches you find on eBay are supposedly pieced together from various pieces of older hmt watches.

GugliermoAlso, the strap it comes with from India is complete garbage, definitely recommend replacing.
I had to snap the spring bars that came with, just to get the straps off. Luckily I have a lil box of spring bars.

AvionNDVRYes I checked the company, seems closed few years ago. And as you said it seems only used or refurbished (not factory refurbished, 3rd party) units are on the market. That makes things risky but for 14 dollar it's ok :)

S O, there were 6 left when I got mine, $13.99 and free shipping from India. What's not to like, I've spent more on postage to get a watch..(-;
PS: on further study the HMT watch company was set up in 1961 with the collaboration of none other than Citizen of Japan, which was making an excellent 17 jewel handwind movement. These HTM watches also sport 17 jewel handwind movements. By 1975 HMT was making it's own mainspring, hairspring and shock absorbers. After years of loss they closed the doors to the watch division in 2016.

Risky means I am not sure if it will keep time well. I think people wear watches to check time right?

I've actually only had the watch a week or so, but I have been wearing it to get used to its size. Edit*** it's about the same size as a casio FW series.

PetrosDI actually bought one... the last one I mean hahaha 👀. The blue hour markers and the spiral silver sunburst dial is really nice. Being an automatic is a very nice touch as well.

AvionNDVRThanks again, I'll get several straps as I bought 4 different HMTs from different dealers....(-; had no idea these were out there. The movement is basically a Citizen 17 jewel handwinder. Those are rugged and reliable. HMT has a bunch of really nice designs, I'll post pics when I receive them. Cheers!

AvionNDVROK, I couldn't resist..here's a sneak peak of an HMT I just ordered, it's an unused NOS so it cost a little more but still dirt cheap. Sorta reminds me of the Panerai I just got, and that's a handwinder too. I'll show it on the wrist as soon as it comes in. Quite the watch day today...(-;
