The way to start getting people together is start an "Interest Check" thread with your area in the title. (In fact, I'll add SF and follow my own advice.) Later, we'll settle on a date and luckily I have Massdrop as the location.
You want to generate some interest and then suggest a date or two once you get enough people to make it worthwhile. When you have people and potential dates, find an available place with lots of power outlets, table space, quiet (unless you are having a portable meet up) and low/no cost to reserve.
This section is currently in Beta, so I'm not sure if everyone can start threads yet...Head-Fi will be a good place to check for North Carolinians who might drive across the state to be able to hear and talk gear.
Let me know if you want to start a thread here or try opening an account on www.Head-Fi.org.

Thanks a lot for your reply! I think I should definitely do that over on Head Fi, I did not know about the local interest threads! I do have posting / thread starting privileges here on the Talk section as well.
That said, I almost feel like I'm not qualified to host an event of that size. I have only been involved with good audio gear for about a year and a half now, starting with the initial launch of the K7XX in December 2014. Currently I own the K7XX, along with the ZMF Blackwood, a Schiit M2U+M2U stack, and an Audioengine D1. I've also not really tried any equipment apart from my own (which is one reason I really want to attend a meet), so... I don't know how to explain it but I feel like a baby in the audio world, and hence would be uncomfortable hosting something of that size myself and was thinking more along the lines of just a few people meeting up at somebody's place to try out gear on a regular basis. :) HOWEVER I can probably help facilitate a proper meet in the area since I am / was (just graduated) a student at NC State and can probably get cool spaces to host events if I ask.
I am @elessartelconta over at Head-Fi (I missed the 'r' at the end of the username and now I'm stuck with this username, haha), and still learning. I'll probably post in the thread you linked to for the North NC / MD meets.
PS. That was way too cool for having been the first meet you arranged!
@AlexPeterkinThanks for letting me know! Unfortunately due to a recent accident (gasp!) I don't have a car right now, and that's the biggest reason I was only interested in local meetups. Otherwise now that I graduated and have some time I would have loved to drive to other cities on the East coast to attend these meetups (I love driving long distances). The meetup you mentioned is in Asheville - I LOVE the place, excellent breweries in town ;) but it's about a four hour drive from Raleigh. Oh, also, I don't really have a mechanical keyboard, I just use my laptop's bulit-in keyboard, haha. I would have liked to just attend and see if others are interested in audio equipment, as you suggested.

payodpandaOh- don't worry about the size, you can always set a maximum count of people that fits with a place or your comfort level.
"Micro" or "Mini" meets can even be better so that you can actually listen to the gear shared or really get to know the people that show up.
Since it sounds like you have a place and they would come to you, less risk to try a small meet. Let me know if you end up trying to organize any size of meet and I'm happy to help with tips/advice.
California is a pretty packed state, so we're a little different with the 200+ sized meets. Don't be afraid to start small and keep it that way. ;)

Currently figuring out where to locate it all and ordering up the necessary cables, it won't be too long before I'm up and running. I am now the proud owner of a brand new stack. Ringing in PC38X's
I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x
Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. I am using the Topping D50 DAC. thx!!

How do I even get to know other audio enthusiasts in the area, just so we could maybe have a mini-meet (maybe less than five people, haha)? I just want to be able to find others so I can learn, experience, share. Travelling to a different city is too steep a commitment for me, unfortunately.
